Steering Committee
The TFA Steering Committee is comprised of representatives of Partner organizations who help steer the strategic direction of TFA and support management decisions. Steering Committee members provide a balanced representation of consumer and forest countries, businesses along the value chain and civil society organizations.


Director of Food, Forests, and Water Programs, WRI. Craig co-developed a number of the Program’s projects including Global Forest Watch, the Global Restoration Initiative, the Forest Legality Alliance, and the Food Loss and Waste Protocol. Previously, Craig managed WRI’s Green Power Market Development Group, a coalition of a dozen Fortune 500 companies that helped pioneer corporate energy markets in the United States. Prior to joining WRI in 2002, Craig was a management consultant in Europe and the United States with McKinsey & Company.


Head Public Private Partnerships, Member Management Committee World Economic Forum. Dominic has led the environment and resource security agenda at the World Economic Forum since 2006.Dominic is an International Fellow of IIED; an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of International Affairs; a Trustee of The Climate Group, Chair of the 2030 Water Resources Group Executive Committee; and Chair of the UNFCCC Momentum for Change Advisory Panel on Climate Finance.


Expert in adaptation and mitigation of Indigenous Peoples on Climate Change, traditional knowledge on the adaptation of pastoralists in Africa, expert on women and climate change in Africa. Also she is Co-Chair of International Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change, representing CSO at the UNCCD and she is Policy board Member of the United Nations- Indigenous Peoples Partnership (UNIPP). Member of the Executive committee of the Indigenous Peoples of Africa Coordinating Committee (IPACC), representative of the Congo Basin Region.


As an Agriculture Investment Advisor in USAID's Bureau for Food Security, Janet works to catalyze agricultural investment and finance to improve food security and nutrition, stimulate agricultural development, and reduce poverty. Janet also worked in USAID's Land and Urban Office focusing on land tenure and served as an Agriculture Officer at USAID's Missions in Guatemala and Cambodia.

Chief Sustainability Officer at Wilmar International, Jeremy is responsible for driving the implementation of Wilmar’s No Deforestation, No New Peat Development and No Exploitation Policy.

Kavita is the Global Conservation Director at WWF. She is responsible for the WWF Practices delivering against the WWF conservation goals to protect and restore habitats including landscapes, freshwater systems and oceans; protect species; and tackle climate change. This combines work with the food system, harnessing markets and the financial sector, and engaging communities. She leads the development of WWF strategy and approach, partnership development and engagement, planning and performance as well as campaigns.

Executive Director of Imaflora. Laura is an agronomist and has worked for at Imaflora for more than 10 years. With Imaflora, her work has varied between certification systems, directly in the field, in audits process and performance evaluations. In between rejoining Imaflora in 2016, Laura was a consultant at EcosSISTEMAS, a consultancy for companies and industries of the agriculture and forestry sector. Since April of 2016 she come back to Imaflora to the Executive Director position. Laura has also lived for other 10 years in a small organic farm, applying her knowledge of agroecology, producing organic products for the local market and restoring the ecosystem there.

Long-time assisting smallholders, working to encourage best agriculture practices for smallholder and villagers and encouarge governement and company to respect for smallholders on the collaboration. In his role at the SPKS, one of the largest smallholder unions in Indonesia, he continually works to empower farmers to become independent and sustainability. He regularly represents smallholders’ interests at sustainable palm oil round-tables, and has been a coordinator for the Forum of Sustainable Oil Palm Smallholders (FORTASBI) since 2014.


Senior Forestry Adviser. Neil has 20 years of experience working in the public and private sectors to bring about the sustainable management of natural resources. Currently managing a new UK-funded forestry programme focused on public-private partnerships to tackle deforestation, including through soft commodity supply chains. Previous experience in large commercial bank to apply environmental and social principles for lending into emerging markets; and an international EU initiative to curb illegal logging and strengthen forest sector governance in developing countries.

Nick is an advocate for sustainable business and is committed to the development of socially, environmentally & economically responsible food systems. In a 20-year career in food & agriculture, Nick has held senior commercial & sustainable supply chain roles in companies across retail (Sainsburys), foodservice (Whitbread) and manufacturing (Twinings). From 2011 to 2015 he led procurement & sustainability shared service functions at Oxfam GB. At Cargill, Nick advises business and functional leadership to address sustainable development issues; working in partnership to deliver on Cargill’s global land use & forest protection policies, action plans and Cargill’s Commitment on Human Rights.


Wei is responsible for developing and leading COFCO International’s sustainability strategy and programmes, as well as stakeholder engagement and partnerships. Prior to joining COFCO International, Wei worked with UNEP Finance Initiative, a partnership between United Nations and the global financial sector to advance sustainable finance. Wei holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in International Trade and Economics.
TFA Team
The TFA team supports the day-to-day operations of the Alliance, designing and organizing workshops and meetings, engaging new and existing Partners, facilitating best practice exchange and supporting Partners to reach their deforestation commitments.

Björn leads the organisation of TFA’s global events and meetings, including the TFA Annual Meeting and sessions at World Economic Forum events, and project manages the development of the Collective Action Agenda. Björn has a background in climate, environment and energy policy and experience working with think tanks, international organisations and NGOs. He holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.

Prior to joining the team, Carolina provided global policy analysis and advocacy engagement for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Paris, and support to the Head of Southern Europe, G7 and G20. Carolina has held a number of consulting roles, including as policy analyst for the Organisation of American States in Washington DC, and as Curator of Performing Arts for the Cartography of Human Rights Project at the University of São Paulo Institute of Advanced Studies in Brazil. Carolina holds a Master in International Public Management from the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at the Sciences Po in Paris, and a B.A. in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo, Brazil.

Justin Adams has spent 25 years championing innovation and sustainability in the private and public sector to address the challenge of climate change. He joined The Nature Conservancy as Global Managing Director for Lands in April 2014 leading a large cross-disciplinary global team, which focuses on building programmes to accelerate action on zero deforestation supply chains; forest restoration; soil health; indigenous people’s rights and carbon finance.

As Manager, Petra oversees the day-to-day management of the TFA Secretariat with a special focus on the global initiatives of the Alliance. She brings to TFA both private sector and NGO experience, having worked at the World Economic Forum, Rainforest Alliance, International Flavors & Fragrances Inc and the Martin Bauer Group. She has expertise in corporate social responsibility and sustainable commodity supply chains. Petra is a World Economic Forum Global Leadership Fellow.

Sharon leads the communications, campaigns and digital engagement of the Alliance. Prior to joining the TFA, Sharon was a communications and project officer at the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance. She also worked as a junior policy analyst at the International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) Corporate Strategy Division. Before that, she was working in broadcast journalism as international correspondent in South Africa, USA, and Argentina. She holds a master’s degree in political science and international relations from the University of Geneva, a Postgraduate Diploma in Media Management, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences majoring in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University.

Ashley coordinates the daily affairs of the TFA logistical needs and provides organizational support to the team. Ashley has a background in financial administration and retail event planning. She holds an honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto.

Gianluca supports the communications, campaigns and digital engagement of TFA. Prior to joining TFA, he accumulated experience working for international organizations, think tanks and the Swiss embassy in Chile. Gianluca has a background in physical geography and holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.

Dr. Erwin Widodo is a scientist with over 20 years of extensive research in tropical ecology and forest management, where his time was spent on location throughout Asia working with various organizations including ICCTF, WWF, Conservation International, Wildlife Conservation Society, The Nature Conservancy and Yayasan KEHATI Indonesia. Dr. Widodo has a BSc in Biology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a GLS in Global Policy and Diplomacy from Georgetown University. He obtained a PhD in Bio-resources Production and Energy Sciences from Kobe University.

Lawyer, PhD in Environmental Science by University of São Paulo. Working since 2002 in multi-stakeholder platforms related to value chains and responsible consumption, as FACES do Brasil – Fair and Solidarity Trade Platform, FSC Brazil – Forest Stewardship Council and, since 2016, at TFA Latin America leading the engagement of regional partners in a collective joint action plan towards the reduction of deforestation.

Andrea works as TFA Regional Analyst for Latin America, performing multiple tasks for the completion of workplans, operational and financial management. Andrea holds an MBA in Sustainability Management from FGV and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from ESALQ/USP.

Joseph Lumumba is The Tropical Forest Alliance Regional Coordinator for Africa since August 2017. He supports the implementation and linkages between the TFA flagship program Africa Palm Oil Initiative (APOI) and the Cocoa and Forest Initiative (CFI). For both programs Joseph engages companies, governments, civil society, donors, banking sector, indigenous people and local communities. TFA Africa also supports partners jurisdictional initiatives. Joseph has as a background in Natural Resource Management (NRM) and has been working for 12 years with IUCN Netherlands Committee from Amsterdam as a senior programme Officer for West and Central Africa. He holds an MSc in Natural Management from the University of Liege in Belgium.
